To support students during the final examination period, the Office of the Library Services will implement extended library hours from May 4–7, 2026, operating Monday to Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The initiative aims to provide students with a quiet and comfortable environment for studying, research, and academic preparation. As part of the extended service, free bread, candies, and coffee will also be offered to library users while supplies last.
The Office of the Library Services encourages students to take advantage of the additional study hours and available refreshments to help them stay focused and productive throughout the examination week.

As part of the celebration of National Women’s Month, the library showcased “The Purple Shelves,” a special collection featuring books and materials focused on gender studies, women empowerment, and equality.

The Office of the Library Services of Central Mindanao University reported significant library utilization for April 2026, reflecting the continued engagement of students, faculty, and researchers in both physical and electronic library services.
Based on the Library Utilization Report, the university library recorded a total of 9,004 users across various college reading rooms and library sections. The College of Agriculture registered the highest number of users with 1,486, followed by the College of Arts and Sciences with 1,040 and the College of Engineering with 953 users. Among library sections, the Circulation Section served the highest number of users with 1,412, while the Learning Commons accommodated 617 users.
Meanwhile, the Electronic Library Utilization Report showed a total of 480 e-library users for the month. The College of Veterinary Medicine recorded the highest e-library usage with 100 users, followed by the College of Arts and Sciences with 80 users and the College of Information Sciences and Computing with 48 users.
The reports highlight the important role of the CMU Library in supporting academic learning, research, and digital information access within the university community.
The Office of the Library Services of Central Mindanao University successfully conducted an orientation seminar titled “Empowering Academic Futures Through Technology Research” on April 14, 2026, at the NGCP Building.
The activity gathered students, teachers, and librarians to explore innovative online academic resources and research tools designed to support teaching, learning, and scholarly work. The seminar featured product introductions, open forum discussions, and actual demonstrations aimed at enhancing participants’ knowledge of technology-driven research platforms.
As part of the event, the Office of the Library Services also presented a certificate of appreciation to SERV Enterprises for their support and contribution to the successful conduct of the program. The initiative reflects CMU’s continued commitment to promoting digital learning and advancing academic research through technology.
The Office of the Library Services of Central Mindanao University welcomed the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Quality Assessment Team (RQUAT) for an ocular visit in support of the MS and PhD Biology programs under the Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) application.
The visit formed part of the CHED Technical Panel Evaluation for the COPC application of the Biology and Food Science Graduate Programs conducted from April 15–17, 2026. During the activity, the library showcased its academic resources, facilities, and support services that contribute to graduate education, research development, and academic excellence.

The Office of the Library Services of Central Mindanao University recently received a donation of three copies of the book “Padayon: Stories of Life.” The donation reflects the continuing support of the academic community in promoting education, research, and lifelong learning.
The book was authored by Marbe G. Aringay, Leonora L. Emperado, and Jessel T. Torres, with contributions from Denise Lian A. Gaan and Precious Danise Marie C. Agub, students of the Central Mindanao University Laboratory High School.
According to the Office of the Library Services, the donated books will help enrich learning resources for students and library users. Copies of the book were distributed to the Central Mindanao University Laboratory High School, the College of Education Reading Room, and the Office of the Library Services.

According to the Library Utilization Report, the library recorded a total of 11,253 users across college reading rooms and various library sections. The College of Agriculture registered the highest number of users with 1,582, followed by the College of Arts and Sciences with 1,383 and the College of Engineering with 732 users. The Circulation Section served the most users with 2,884, while the Learning Commons accommodated 970 users during the month.
Meanwhile, the Electronic Library Utilization Report showed a total of 240 e-library users. The College of Veterinary Medicine recorded the highest number of e-library users with 32, followed by the College of Arts and Sciences with 30 and the College of Human Ecology with 26 users.
The reports demonstrate the active engagement of students, faculty, and researchers in utilizing both physical and digital library services, reinforcing the library’s role as an essential partner in academic excellence and information access at CMU.
